This resolve proposes increasing the number of Kennebec County commissioners from 3 to 5.

This resolve allows Kennebec County commissioners to establish an apportionment commission to increase the number of county commissioner districts from 3 to 5. The voters of Kennebec County will decide on this change in a referendum in November 2026. If approved, the commission must develop a plan by October 1, 2026, detailing the new districts and initial terms for the commissioners. The plan will then be submitted to the Legislature for enactment in 2027, with the new districts taking effect in the November 2028 election.
