Proposing an amendment to the Maine Constitution to mandate that 60% of sales and use tax revenue from motor vehicles be spent on transportation.

This resolution proposes an amendment to the Constitution of Maine to ensure that at least 60% of sales and use tax revenue collected from motor vehicle dealers and the Bureau of Motor Vehicles is spent solely on transportation costs, including public highways, bridges, aviation, transit, railroads, ferries, ports, trails, pedestrian infrastructure, and bicycle facilities. The amendment would also grant the Legislature's transportation committee jurisdiction over all financial matters related to the Highway Fund.
