LD1485

Establishes a one-year retention period for tissue samples and evidence in cases of sudden infant death syndrome or undetermined causes of death in.

The bill mandates that if a medical examiner determines a child under three years died from sudden infant death syndrome or cannot determine the cause of death, the Chief Medical Examiner must preserve and retain sufficient tissue samples and other evidence for one year. This evidence must be accessible to the child's parent or guardian. This ensures families have access to necessary materials for potential future investigations into the cause of death.
