Removes gender identity from Maine Human Rights Act protections against discrimination.
An Act to Remove Consideration of Gender Identity from the Maine Human Rights Act eliminates gender identity as a protected category in the Maine Human Rights Act. This means that discrimination based on gender identity will no longer be prohibited in areas such as employment, housing, education, and public accommodations. The bill also includes a technical change by repealing a redundant section. This change does not affect the overall protections provided by the Maine Human Rights Act.
