Maine LD1422 establishes open primary elections for certain offices and modifies ranked-choice voting procedures.

Maine LD1422 introduces open primary elections for the offices of United States Senator, United States Representative to Congress, Governor, State Senator, and State Representative. All qualified candidates, regardless of party enrollment, must appear on the same open primary ballot. Voters, regardless of their enrollment status, can participate in these open primaries. The bill also removes presidential primary elections from those determined by ranked-choice voting.
