LD1417

Strengthens authority of local officials to enforce provisions on dangerous and nuisance properties.

This bill amends Maine Revised Statutes to enhance the authority of local officials, including code enforcement officers, local health officers, fire chiefs, and municipal officers, to enforce provisions regarding dangerous and nuisance properties that threaten public health and safety. It specifies that these officials can enforce laws pertaining to properties that are dangerous, a nuisance, or abandoned. The bill also outlines procedures for enforcement, including the ability to seek a writ of attachment for properties that require immediate removal.
