Maine LD1351 mandates consideration of antisemitism as a motive in criminal and civil law violations.
Maine LD1351 defines "antisemitism" using the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's 2016 working definition. It amends the Maine Human Rights Act to require an assessment of antisemitism as a motive when determining violations of the Act or any criminal or civil law. This ensures that antisemitism is considered in legal assessments, potentially affecting how such cases are prosecuted or adjudicated.
