Maine LD131 repeals provisions allowing employers in group self-insurers to use fronting arrangements for workers' compensation insurance.
Maine LD131 removes the ability for an employer member of a group self-insurer to insure its employees through a fronting arrangement. This change repeals sections 4-B and 4-C of 39-A MRSA §403, which were enacted by Public Law 2023, Chapter 393. The bill affects employers who participate in group self-insurance plans by eliminating their option to use fronting companies for workers' compensation insurance.
