Suspends payroll premiums for Maine's paid family and medical leave program until January 1, 2026, while allowing employers with equivalent private.

This bill suspends the mandatory payroll premiums for Maine's paid family and medical leave benefits program until January 1, 2026. It allows employers with substantially equivalent private plans to discontinue paying these premiums while their exemption applications are being processed. The Department of Labor is required to expedite the approval process for these private plans and to waive payroll premiums for employers during the application review period. The rules implementing these changes must be in effect by November 1, 2025.
