LD1288

Amends Maine drug laws to redefine trafficking and possession thresholds for heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine.

This bill amends Maine's drug laws by redefining trafficking and possession thresholds for heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine. It removes heroin and fentanyl powder from the permissible inference of unlawful trafficking and unlawful furnishing under Maine Rules of Evidence, Rule 303. The bill also adjusts the quantities of heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine base that trigger specific drug offenses, including trafficking and furnishing. These changes affect how law enforcement and courts interpret possession and trafficking of these substances.
