LD1271

Allows school boards to accept volunteer services from immediate family members of superintendents or school board members.

This bill reestablishes a law that was repealed in 2024, allowing school boards to permit a spouse or other family members of superintendents or school board members to serve as volunteers. It expands the previous law to include family members beyond just spouses. The school board can adopt a written policy on nepotism to discourage favoritism, consider the needs of the school system, and ensure all volunteers have a fair and equal opportunity to be selected on merit.
