This bill amends Maine civil service law to mandate that the Department of Administrative and Financial Services, Bureau of Human Resources conduct a market pay study every year comparing state employee salaries with those of private and public employees in Maine and other states. The bill also requires a comprehensive review of the classification plan for state service positions every year to make necessary modifications and improvements. The bureau must issue a request for proposals and contract with an experienced contractor to complete these studies and reviews.
