LD1248

Maine LD1248 amends physical escort and restraint/seclusion rules in schools to allow non-voluntary physical escort and remove the requirement for.

Maine LD1248 amends the definition of "physical escort" in Maine law to allow the temporary touching or holding of a student's hand, wrist, arm, shoulder, or back to guide them to a safe location without requiring the student's voluntary cooperation. The bill also changes the conditions under which physical restraint or seclusion can be used in schools, removing the requirement that the student's behavior must pose an imminent danger of serious physical injury.
