This bill modifies confidentiality laws to allow disclosure of certain records to agencies involved in child custody placements.

This bill modifies confidentiality laws to protect children being placed into custody by the Department of Health and Human Services. It allows the disclosure of confidential records to an agency or department involved in the placement of a child if a record of past substance use or domestic abuse by a person being considered for custody of the child exists. The bill also updates the Maine Revised Statutes to include protections for identity of reporters and other persons when appropriate.
