The Maine Consumer Privacy Act regulates the collection, use, processing, disclosure, sale, and deletion of personal data by businesses targeting Maine residents. The Act applies to businesses that control or process data of at least 50,000 consumers or derive over 25% of revenue from data sales. It mandates data minimization, consent for sensitive data processing, and prohibits processing for targeted advertising or data sales without consent. Consumers have rights to confirm data processing, access, correct, and delete their data, and opt out of targeted advertising and data sales.
