This bill establishes the African American Studies Advisory Council to assist educators and schools in implementing African American studies curricula. The council will explore educational materials, identify resources, and recommend curricula and funding. The Department of Education will develop professional development opportunities for educators and convene a stakeholder group to study an endorsement in African American studies. The bill also appropriates funds for the council and establishes a content specialist position in African American studies within the Department of Education.
