This bill amends the law to allow the Governor to provide disaster relief to local governments when the President declares an emergency or major disaster. The Governor can apply for federal public assistance grants, loans, and disburse proceeds to local governments. The bill also allows the Governor to recommend the cancellation of loan repayments if local revenues are insufficient after the disaster. The local share of the relief cannot exceed 10% of the total cost of damage to local public facilities or 25% of the total public assistance requested.
