Maine LD1179 amends the Maine Revised Statutes to require the Commissioner of Public Safety to establish rules for fire safety in temporary emergency shelters, including ventilation, electrical safety, and emergency exits. It also mandates rules for noncommercial places of assembly, such as those used for deliberation, worship, or entertainment, with capacities of 100 to 300 persons. The bill specifies that automatic sprinkler systems may not be required in existing noncommercial places of assembly or in commercial places of assembly open for no more than 10 days per year.
