Maine LD1147 amends the statute on concealed weapons to require intent or knowledge for criminal liability.
Maine LD1147 modifies the state's law on the threatening display or carrying of concealed weapons. The bill responds to the federal Counterman v. Colorado ruling, which set a new standard for criminal liability. Under the new law, a person must intentionally or knowingly conceal a weapon to be found criminally liable. This change affects the state's statute on concealed weapons, specifically MRSA §2001-A, sub-§1.
