Maine LD1121 mandates diaper changing stations in public restrooms of state buildings.

Maine LD1121 requires public restrooms in state buildings constructed or remodeled after the bill's effective date to include diaper changing stations. These stations must be safe, sanitary, and appropriate. If a restroom is restricted to a specific gender, another restroom must also have a diaper changing station accessible to all genders. The Department of Administrative and Financial Services, Bureau of General Services must ensure compliance by July 1, 2027. Exceptions apply if construction is not feasible due to cost or conflicts with historic preservation rules or building codes.
