Maine LD1113 prohibits life sentences without parole for individuals under a certain age at the time of their crime.
Maine LD1113 amends state law to prohibit sentencing individuals to life imprisonment without the possibility of supervised community confinement if they were under a certain age at the time of their crime. This applies to all crimes, including aggravated attempted murder. Additionally, it allows for the transfer of such individuals to supervised community confinement after serving a certain period of their sentence. This change aims to provide more age-appropriate sentencing options.
