LD1109

Maine LD1109 aims to reduce gun violence by prohibiting possession of large-capacity ammunition feeding devices.

Maine LD1109 seeks to reduce gun violence casualties by prohibiting the possession of large-capacity ammunition feeding devices. It defines such devices as magazines, belts, drums, boxes, tubes, or feed strips that can hold more than a specified number of rounds. The bill allows for modifications to reduce capacity, surrender to law enforcement for destruction, or transfer to federally licensed dealers outside the state. Exemptions include active military and law enforcement personnel, and devices used with curio or relic firearms. Violation of the law is classified as a Class D crime.
