Failed·6/13/25
Tpdf Text

Maine LD1062 would eliminate background checks for private sales of firearms.

Maine LD1062 would amend the law to eliminate background checks for private sales of firearms. The bill specifies that a seller who is not a federally licensed firearms dealer may not complete a transaction unless the seller facilitates the transaction through a federally licensed firearms dealer. The dealer would then perform a background check of the putative buyer using the Federal Bureau of Investigation, National Instant Criminal Background Check System.
