Louisiana SB7 proposes a constitutional amendment to authorize parish governing authorities to increase the homestead exemption from $7,500 to $12,500 of the assessed valuation of the property. This amendment would exempt the primary residence, including a mobile home, from state, parish, and special ad valorem taxes. The amendment will be submitted to the voters in the statewide election on November 3, 2026, and if approved, will take effect on January 1, 2027.
