Louisiana SB57 amends existing law to modify nutrition labeling requirements. It exempts additional foods from the need to include a quick response (QR) code on their labels. Effective January 1, 2028, the bill exempts foods for special dietary use from the labeling requirements. The bill also maintains existing exemptions for drugs, dietary supplements, medical food, food prepared and labeled in retail food establishments, and alcoholic beverages.
