Louisiana SB480 allows the use of butterfly and bottom nets for shrimp fishing in Oyster Bayou only when suspended from a motor-propelled boat.
Louisiana SB480 amends existing law to specify that butterfly and bottom nets can be used for shrimp fishing in Oyster Bayou, located between Atchafalaya Bay and Terrebonne Bay, only when suspended from a motor-propelled boat that is underway. The bill also prohibits using any anchor or device to connect the net to the shoreline. This law applies to the body of water extending one thousand feet outside of the points where Oyster Bayou connects with Fourleague Bay and the Gulf of America.
