SB439

Louisiana SB439 mandates cancer and precancer screenings for firefighters and fire service employees, with specific schedules and cost coverage.

Louisiana SB439 amends existing law to require cancer screenings for firefighters and fire service employees. Active firefighters aged 60 and above must undergo screenings every three years. Retired firefighters, including those retiring due to disability, must receive screenings from their former employer. Starting January 1, 2027, precancer screenings for esophageal cancer will be available every ten years for all firefighters and fire service employees, terminating at age 60.
