Louisiana SB419 allows use of pre-charged pneumatic devices to hunt deer during primitive firearm season.

Louisiana SB419 amends existing law to allow hunters to use pre-charged pneumatic devices to hunt deer during the primitive firearm season. These devices must fire a projectile with a minimum caliber of.30, a weight of 150 grains, and a muzzle velocity of 800 feet per second, or a combination that produces 200 foot-pounds of energy. The law also permits the use of magnified scopes on any weapon authorized for the primitive firearm season. This change takes effect on August 1, 2026.
