Louisiana SB409 provides protections for employees who become living organ donors.
Louisiana SB409, known as the "Louisiana Living Donor Paid Leave Protection Act," ensures that employees who become living organ donors are protected from job insecurity or surgery delays. The law mandates that employers grant paid leave of absence to employees seeking to donate a human organ, up to 30 working days. Employers may require physician verification of the leave's purpose and length. Private employers must provide a 30-day unpaid leave of absence for organ or bone marrow donation, with the option to extend it.
