Louisiana SB333 modifies child in need of care proceedings to include caregiver input.

Louisiana SB333 amends child in need of care proceedings to allow caregivers who have provided continuous care for six months to have limited participatory status. This status allows them to testify and present evidence regarding the child's safety and permanency placement. The court must provide written reasons for its findings concerning reunification, including the child's attachment and stability in the current placement. The court must also consider the caregiver's input in determining reunification and termination of parental rights. Effective August 1, 2026.
