Louisiana SB29 requires coroners to perform autopsies on infants under one year and children under 15 who die unexpectedly without explanation. The autopsies must include microscopic and toxicology studies and a review of the child's immunization records. Coroners must report cases of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, Sudden Unexpected Infant Death, Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome, or Sudden Death in the Young to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health's Sudden Unexpected Infant Death and Sudden Death in the Young Case Registry.
