Louisiana SB278 requires an ignition interlock device for license reinstatement after DUI suspension.

Louisiana SB278 amends existing law to mandate the installation of an ignition interlock device for any person whose driver's license has been suspended for operating while impaired. This change removes the previous requirement of a prior arrest within ten years. The ignition interlock device must be installed on any motor vehicle operated by the person to qualify for license reinstatement. Effective August 1, 2026.
