Louisiana SB277 amends existing law to allow specific state officials to carry concealed weapons if they are qualified annually in firearms use by the Council on Peace Officer Standards and Training. The bill retains current exceptions for certain officials and adds designated assistants of the governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, treasurer, commissioner of agriculture and forestry, and commissioner of insurance. The law also provides an exemption for these officials to carry concealed weapons into the state capitol building. Effective August 1, 2026.
