Louisiana SB246 establishes requirements for health insurance issuers using artificial intelligence or automated decision systems. Insurers must inform policyholders if AI was used in their claim determination. Insurers cannot use AI to replace healthcare providers in making decisions. Human review is required before adverse determinations based on AI. Policyholders can appeal decisions made with AI recommendations, and insurers must not use AI in subsequent reviews of appealed claims.
