Louisiana SB213 mandates titling for certain vessels and outboard motors, effective August 1, 2026.
Louisiana SB213 amends existing law to require titling for vessels valued over $5,000 and any outboard motor purchased or transferred on or after January 1, 2027. Owners must apply for a certificate of title within 60 days of acquisition or change in ownership. For other vessels and outboard motors, titling remains voluntary. The law also retains the prohibition on issuing state titles for vessels documented by the U.S. Coast Guard.
