Louisiana SB167 amends civil procedure to require fees for service of citation to be paid before issuance.

Louisiana SB167 amends the Code of Civil Procedure to require that fees for service of citation must be paid before the citation is issued. The bill also mandates that a judgment dismissing an action without prejudice will be rendered for defendants for whom service has not been requested or fees not paid, unless good cause is shown. The changes apply prospectively from August 1, 2026.
