Louisiana SB150 allows the Department of Health to scan and electronically store vital records documents.

Louisiana SB150 provides that the vital records registry and state registrar may scan original documents submitted in support of vital records applications and electronically store the scanned documents. The scanned and electronically stored documents have the same authenticity as the paper originals. The original documents are returned to the submitter. The registry and registrar may issue certified copies of documents in their custody in paper or electronic form. The law becomes effective upon signature by the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
