Final Passage·5/28/26

Louisiana SB145 mandates adult residential care providers to have a generator or alternative power source to ensure uninterrupted electrical power.

Louisiana SB145 requires all licensed adult residential care providers to have a generator or alternative electrical power source. This power source must be permanently installed onsite and have sufficient fuel to operate for 72 hours under full load. The Louisiana Department of Health can grant waivers for certain facilities and may use emergency rulemaking to implement the provisions. The office of the state fire marshal will determine compliance and report any noncompliance to the department. Adult residential care providers must meet these requirements by December 1, 2027.
