Increases the compensation cap for the wrongful conviction compensation law.

Louisiana SB125 amends the wrongful conviction compensation law by increasing the lifetime cap for compensation from $400,000 to $600,000. The compensation rate remains at $40,000 per year incarcerated. The bill also extends the deadline for filing a petition for supplemental compensation from July 1, 2023, to August 1, 2027. Effective August 1, 2026.
