Louisiana HB97 allocates $450,000 from the State General Fund for Fiscal Year 2025-2026 to pay a consent judgment against the state in the case Bentz C. Braud, IV, et ux v. State of Louisiana through the Department of Transportation and Development. The judgment, which is final, includes principal, interest, court costs, and expert witness fees. Up to $150,000 of the judgment for future medical care and related benefits will be paid from the Future Medical Care Fund. The payment will only be made after the required documentation is presented to the state treasurer.
