Louisiana HB96 increases the impound period for cars used in drag racing from 14 to 30 days.
Louisiana HB96 amends the state's traffic regulations to extend the impound period for vehicles used in drag racing from 14 to 30 days. This change allows law enforcement agencies more time to gather evidence related to the offense. If the vehicle is rented, only the driver faces higher fines, while the car rental agency or vehicle owner can reclaim the vehicle after notification. The bill also specifies that the vehicle owner may claim the vehicle from the impound facility once notified by law enforcement.
