Louisiana HB840 requires public hearings in parishes affected by carbon dioxide sequestration projects.

Louisiana HB840 mandates that a public hearing be held in every parish where a pipeline for carbon dioxide transport will be constructed. The bill requires notice and an opportunity for public comment from all interested parties before the issuance of any order, permit, or certificate related to carbon dioxide sequestration. This includes certificates of public convenience and necessity and certificates of completion of injection operations. The bill amends existing law to include these public hearing requirements.
