HB83

Louisiana HB83 revises the process for converting preexisting schools into charter schools.

Louisiana HB83 amends the conversion process for preexisting schools into charter schools. The bill modifies the voting eligibility and approval thresholds for faculty, staff, and parents or guardians. Faculty and staff must be employed by or assigned to the school on the election date and have been employed since October 1 of the preceding year to vote. Approval now requires a simple majority of eligible faculty and staff votes, rather than a specific number.
