HB792

Establishes a program for screening inmates for HIV and hepatitis C in Louisiana correctional facilities.

Louisiana HB792 establishes a program for standardized screening procedures for inmates in state correctional facilities to identify infection with HIV and hepatitis C. The Department of Public Safety and Corrections is tasked with implementing this program, which includes prioritizing treatment for certain inmates and ensuring continuity of care for those not initiated on treatment while incarcerated. Inmates may decline participation, and refusal does not affect their status or privileges.
