Complete·6/23/26

Louisiana HB762 prohibits the Office of Motor Vehicles from referring debts from unpaid reinstatement fees to the Office of Debt Recovery.

Louisiana HB762 amends existing law to prohibit the Office of Motor Vehicles from referring debts arising from unpaid reinstatement fees to the Office of Debt Recovery. The bill retains the current law that allows the Office of Motor Vehicles to refer authenticated final delinquent debts to the Office of Debt Recovery for collection, except for debts from unpaid reinstatement fees. The Office of Motor Vehicles must notify debtors in writing of their final delinquent debt and the consequences of non-payment before referring the debt to the Office of Debt Recovery.
