Louisiana HB733 increases driver's license reinstatement fees for DUI offenses and ties future fee adjustments to the Consumer Price Index.
Louisiana HB733 raises the reinstatement fees for drivers' licenses suspended due to DUI offenses. The fee for a first offense increases from $100 to $150, for a second offense from $200 to $250, and for any subsequent offense from $300 to $350. The Office of Motor Vehicles must use the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) to adjust fees annually starting July 1, 2028. An initial adjustment based on the CPI-U for the period from August 1, 2026, to January 31, 2028, will also be made.
