Allows commercial shrimpers to start trawling at 5:30 a.m. in Vermilion Bay, East Cote Blanche Bay, and West Cote Blanche Bay during open shrimp.
Louisiana HB721 amends existing law to allow commercial shrimpers to begin trawling at 5:30 a.m. in Vermilion Bay, East Cote Blanche Bay, and West Cote Blanche Bay during any open shrimp season, even if this is more than 30 minutes before sunrise. The current law prohibits night shrimping in certain inside waters from 30 minutes after sunset to 30 minutes before sunrise. This change creates an exception for these specific bays, allowing commercial shrimpers to start earlier.
