Establishes a default maximum allowable surface injection pressure for commercial saltwater disposal wells in Louisiana.

Louisiana HB706 establishes a baseline standard for allowable injection pressure for commercial saltwater disposal wells by incorporating present law contained in federal regulations. The default maximum authorized surface injection pressure (MASIP) for commercial disposal wells is set at 90% of the fracture gradient for the injection interval. Operators can apply for an increased MASIP by demonstrating certain conditions, such as monitoring wells and historical seismic data. The Department of Natural Resources must approve or deny applications within 60 days.
