Re-creates the Department of Environmental Quality in Louisiana, effective June 30, 2026.

Louisiana HB697 re-creates the Department of Environmental Quality and its statutory entities, effective June 30, 2026. This act continues all statutory authority for the department and its entities in accordance with Louisiana law. The act repeals previous termination dates set by the "sunset" law and establishes a new termination date of July 1, 2031, unless the department is re-created again. The act also includes provisions for the effective termination date for all statutory entities and requires a separate bill to re-create each statutory entity within the department.
