HB642

Louisiana HB642 redraws congressional district boundaries based on the 2020 census.

Louisiana HB642 redraws the boundaries of Louisiana's six congressional districts based on the 2020 federal census. The bill specifies the precincts that compose each district, ensuring that the population of each district is as nearly equal as practicable. The new districts become effective for the 2028 congressional elections if signed by the governor or if the governor does not sign the bill and it becomes law without a signature. For all other purposes, the new districts become effective on January 3, 2029. The bill also repeals the previous congressional district law.
